How the UI Metro Traffic Engine Web App Works

Some applications require an overhead visualization of traffic conditions – like the web-relayed traffic data or the regular traffic reports provided by 680 News radio in Canada. Urban Informatics uses an advanced Traffic Data Imager (TDI) in conjunction with a web service that delivers an overlay image to visually depict current traffic conditions in the coverage area.

Clients for this approach can be portals or simple visual applications. The TDI is implemented as a utility library that can be called by web applications such as our own Metro Traffic Engine web app.
